Association of Consulting Engineers of Serbia ACES participated in the third CSO fair called “SAMOinicijativa”, organized by theAgency for European Integrations and Cooperation with Civil Society. The fair was held from 24 to 25 May 2012th at Nikola Pasic Square. Seventy organizations participated in the fair and presented their current projects and plans for the future activities. The aim of this fair was to encourage citizens to induce positive changes in society with their engagement, commitment and initiative.
ACES introduced all visitors with its work and presented the current work projects. All interested parties were able to obtain detailed information about FIDIC standards in civil engineering, about current trends in the construction sector in the country and abroad, to acquaint them with the GreenBase – online database with “green” products and materials and also presented FIDIC editions whose exclusive publisher ACES is.
The fair was opened by Ivana Cirkovic, Director of the Office for Cooperation with Civil society and the Government of the Republic of Serbia Danko Runic, Director of Agency for European Integrations and Cooperation with Civil Society, and the opening ceremony of the fair was attended by representatives of the international community, among them U.S. Ambassador Mary Warlick and Head of the Council of Europe in Serbia Antje Rothemund
Visitors on the first day of the Fair, on Thursday 24th May had the opportunity to attend, among others, the lecture on the topic of youth entrepreneurship in Serbia as well as discussion on the “Use of social networks and new technologies in achieving the objectives of civil society.” During the second day the program was a lecture organized by the Belgrade Open School “Guide to Career Planning” and talk about corruption in higher education. Also, the Gay Straight Alliance and the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights (YUCOM) discussed the introduction of hate crime in the Penal Code, why is it needed and what will change.
