FIDIC Annual Conference and Assembly in Rio de Janeiro was held from September 28th to October 1st 2014. The conference theme was infrastructure, pointing to the significant need for infrastructure development in Brasil as a host of the Conference, but also the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Summer Olympics in 2016. Brasil, as one of the fastest growing economies in the world, with all its problems in urban planning, transport, municipal infrastructure and waste management, in this case serves as an example of a set of challenges facing the engineering consultancy sector struggles, which improves quality of life in 21st century through the timely, creative and sustainable solutions and new business opportunities.
