Calling candidates – enter our competition for engineering excellence to win a trip to the Berlin YP Forum and EFCA conference in May 2011.
Submit your candidature, following the guidelines below, to your national association.
The Young Professionals’ (YPs) programme in Rome last year attracted substantial interest and will be expanded next year in our Conference in Berlin on the 26th and 27th of May 2011.
In order to participate in this competition, each national Member Association is invited to nominate up to 5 candidates to EFCA, proposed by their companies, to compete against candidates proposed by the other countries.
Conditions of nomination
1. Age limit: 40 years;
2. Having the ambition to become a leader or owner in his/her professional career;
3. Having already made an interesting contribution to at least one project in their field of expertise, e.g. a novel design, and/or
as professionals (managers), e.g. development of an environmental, innovative, sustainable, energy or cost-saving solution.
4. Nomination from Member Association with the necessary information about the nominee, ref below.
How to enter
The information to be submitted for each candidate is:
1. CV of the candidate
2. Information on a project that exemplifies the candidate, including:
– Description of its innovative characteristics (2 pages max)
– His/her specific contribution to it (1 page max)
– Supporting documents, which may include photos or drawings or publications (5 pages max), translated in English
– Details of the project’s end-results & benefits to the client
An appreciation of the candidate’s contribution by the client or his/her firm will be taken into account.
All materials are requested to be submitted in English or accompanied by a translation in English.
Evaluation
The evaluation will be made by a jury committee comprising members of the EFCA Board of Directors; a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd prize will be awarded, as well as honorable mentions to selected participants.
The award criteria will be the following:
– The candidates’ achievements to date, e.g. business status (relative to age), awards, education
– The degree of innovation exhibited by the candidate in the project presented, and
– The quality of the presentation.
Excess material will be negatively evaluated, as will documents in languages other than English. Relevance to EFCA’s communication theme of 2011 – “the international standing of European firms” (projects of European firms taking place outside Europe) will also be positively evaluated.
Awards
An award ceremony will take place during the EFCA General Assembly Meeting, in which the prizes and honorable mentions will be offered by the EFCA President.
The winner of the 1st prize will be awarded a free participation in the EFCA Conference on 27th May 2011 in Berlin, including travel & accommodation expenses. The winners of the 2nd and 3rd prizes will be awarded a support of € 500, to be used for participation in the event.
Scheduling
The MAs’ nominations should be sent to the EFCA secretariat at the latest by the 28th February 2011. Late entries will not be considered. The EFCA jury’s decision will be announced by 31st of March 2011.
